a current update

I’m terribly sorry for not keeping you updated. It’s been a little bit more than two weeks, but don’t worry, I did think about my failure to update my blog, but sometimes you just get caught up in the whirlwind of life and end up enjoying the moments.01032017a
December 15, 2016: It was a really cold day, and I had turned 20.  My mom was actually off in the morning and she insisted on going out for breakfast.  We enjoyed cranberry pancakes and smoked salmon eggs benedict.  It was really sweet because she had a final the next day and brought her studying materials to the restaurant.

December 16, 2016: To celebrate my birthday, I wanted to go around the town that my church was located in and share my faith to the people who lived and worked in it.  We gave out free hot chocolate and introduced our faces to the community.  One of the most memorable birthday experiences I’m sure I will ever have.

December 17, 2016: We had a special service for the children at church.  Here is picture of me and other fellow members of the older youth group (KADIWA) after the socializing post special service.

December 18, 2016: This day was the adults’ turn to have a special service to thank God for the many blessings He had blessed us with throughout the year.  It was such a spiritual service, and God was so good.

December 23, 2016: I had travelled to Philly to hang out with friends in faith.  It was a day trip that was filled with so much laughter and so much food.

December 26, 2016: A handful of friends and I successfully carried out a surprise going away party for my cousin.  He was very surprised, and the theme was Korean BBQ so everybody was super happy.  It was a great time to spend time with one another’s presence.  I appreciated it, and it wasn’t even my party.

December 31, 2016:  Jaden and I got to spend time with the birthday boy and his party!  We were put in charge of the candy/toy bar and we organized and set up the display so nicely.  We became sleep deprived but the tiredness paid off for it being the last day of the year.

January 1, 2017: Since the new year fell on a Sunday, of course I was going to be at church!  This year I was in bed when the clock struck midnight and I ended the year 2016 with a personal prayer.  It was a blessed Sunday, nonetheless.

mellow monday

Self care is a necessity when it comes to Mondays.  You have to start your week correctly.  I slept in by accident because it’s been so hard to tell when the sun comes up after putting my thick curtains up (and mostly because my parents told me it was going to be raining, which it did not).  But I don’t feel bad about it.  This weekend was crazy tiring.  Mondays are a great recharger.  When I opened the curtains and looked outside, I already knew that today was going to be a good day.

I started off my day with good food for a happy soul. My breakfast easily turned into a brunch, which I was okay with.  It made it even better because I. Love Brunch.  So I looked at all the beautiful fruits I had in my kitchen, and put together a couple of plates.  I boiled eggs to my personal perfection: when the yolk is cooked through, but so soft to the bite and yes. It was just a yes. And then the avocados were ripe, and the grapefruit red looked gorgeous, along with the way the pomegranate seeds fell from its former home.  A touch of salt and pepper was all I needed on the savory stuff, and it was a very happy meal.

(I really hope I can start eating healthier again… I kind of got off track for a bit, but yes.  I should start eating with awareness.  Let me make that something to work on.)

I stayed in for the majority of the day, hoping that I would be able to keep myself warm and help ease the last inch of sickness that’s left in my body.  I’ll get better soon, and tomorrow will surely be another good day.  I’ll continue to try and play around with this camera more, and hopefully get some good stuff to share with you soon.

But for now, happy Monday.

much love,
joy
